Teaching Philosophy

I divide my teaching style into two separate roles; as a teacher and as a fellow musician.

As a teacher I believe in giving my students enough free space to allow them to discover their own voice. I believe that without traditional boundaries and restrictions clouding their minds it is much easier for them to become courageous and confident, the very two qualities I find very important in any good musician. My goal as a teacher is to lay down solid foundation for my students. I strongly believe that by providing them with strong backgrounds in technique, rhythm, pitch, tone and articulation, I'm equipping them with a set of necessary tools to create their own musical identity.

Next is where my role as an artist plays a part. As a fellow musician, I try to encourage my students to not be afraid to explore new territories and experimenting new sounds. It is also my personal belief that practice makes perfect therefore, through self demonstration, I try to show them that perseverance also contributes to success as much as talent does.
